About Michael Blaire
Michael Blaire, a graduate of St. John’s University College of Pharmacy, is a highly accomplished pharmacist with a distinguished career spanning over two decades. His expertise encompasses pharmacy management, veterinary compounding, and regulatory affairs. He has founded and managed three pharmacies in New York City, served as a Pharmacy Manager at several Walgreens locations in the Phoenix area, and co-founded Diamondback Drugs, a nationally recognized veterinary compounding pharmacy. After the sale of Diamondback Drugs to Wedgewood Pharmacy in 2018, Michael served as VP Government and Regulatory Affairs until 2025. Currently, he works as a consultant, helping independent pharmacy owners navigate the regulatory environment and develop their businesses.

A Legacy of Leadership and Advocacy
For over 25 years, Michael has been a dedicated advocate for the pharmacy profession, holding numerous leadership positions in prominent organizations. He has served as Chairman of the Arizona Pharmacy Association Political Action Committee, COMP-PAC, and the Compounding Special Interest Group at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). Mr. Blaire was also a member of the Political Action Committees for the APhA and the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA). In 2015, he was appointed to the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy, where he served as Board President in 2018. His leadership extends to the national level, having served as Chairman of District 8 for the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) and as Board Chair of the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding in 2021. Mr. Blaire is the current President of the Pharmacy Compounding Foundation (PCF).
A Career of Excellence and Recognition
Michael’s significant contributions to the pharmacy profession have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards. In 2017, he was named the APhA Good Government Pharmacist of the Year, and in 2019, he was inducted into the Arizona Pharmacy Association Hall of Fame. He became a Fellow of the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding (APC) in 2018 and received the Bowl of Hygeia Award from the Arizona Pharmacy Association in 2021. In 2025, Mr. Blaire was honored with the George and Lucy Malmberg Advocacy Champion Award from APC. His commitment to animal health was recognized with the “Unleashed” Award from Power Paws in 2013.
Dedication to Community and Mentorship
Beyond his professional achievements, Michael is actively involved in animal-related organizations and was recently invited to join the Board of the Arizona Center for Nature Conservation/The Phoenix Zoo. He is also a dedicated mentor, having guided over 50 pharmacy students and instilled in them a passion for the profession and the importance of advocacy.
